JEAN LANCRI www.lancri.com Jean LANCRI est né le 24 décembre 1936. Il vit dans la région parisienne. Universitaire et artiste, il est actuellement professeur émérite à l'Université Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne, où il a enseigné dans l'U.F.R. des Arts Plastiques et Sciences de l'Art qu'il a un temps dirigée. Jean LANCRI a fait des installations; par exemple, celle intitulée K ou la Chambre des métamorphoses, montrée (de 1980 à 1985), à la Maison de la Culture d'Amiens, à la Fondation Gulbenkian de Lisbonne, au Musée Bossuet de Meaux et au Centre Pompidou de Paris. Jean LANCRI a également fait des performances; par exemple, le 16 juin 1984, devant 22 galeries parisiennes, Jean LANCRI a "réchauffé" le "Bloomsday", autrement dit la marche que Léopold Bloom effectue le 16 juin 1904 dans les rues de Dublin et les pages du Ulysses de Joyce. Il a récidivé, le 16 juin 1994, à la Galerie Donguy, à Paris. Depuis 1992, Jean LANCRI se consacre à ce qu'il nomme " Le Cycle de Cheval à Vélo ". Jean LANCRI est l'auteur de deux livres : 1) Y et K, essai sur la peinture au risque de la lettre, Paris, Méridiens-Klincksieck, 1989. 2) L'index montré du doigt (huit plus un essais sur la surprise en peinture), L'Harmattan, 2000. Comme artiste ou comme universitaire, Jean LANCRI a été invité en Algérie, Angleterre, Argentine, Belgique, Brésil, Canada, Chili, Espagne, France, Inde, Islande, Italie, Maroc, Norvège, Russie, Suisse, Taïwan, Tunisie, Turquie, USA. JEAN LANCRI www.lancri.com Jean LANCRI, born on the 24 of December 1936, is both an artist and a University professor. He has been teaching in the University of Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne since 1980 in the Department of Art and Sciences of Art. He is now a Professor Emeritus. Since 1970, Jean LANCRI has had more than 40 personal exhibitions in France, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, England, Russia, Turkey, and USA. He has also been invited in many collective shows (for instance with his installation entitled K or the chamber for metamorphosis , devoted to Kafka, shown for the first time in the Centre Pompidou of Paris, in 1984 and later in the Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisboa). LANCRI has also done "performances"; for instance, on the 16th of june 1984, and again on the 16th of june 1994, he re-enacted, in the streets of Paris and on the threshold of 22 parisian galleries, "Bloomsday" as an artistic performance (i.e. the walk of Leopold Bloom, in the streets of Dublin, on the 16th of june 1904, and in the pages of Joyce's novel Ulysses). Since 1992, he has devoted his artistic career to a cycle of paintings and performances which he calls "The Cycle of Cheval à Vélo". Jean LANCRI has also published two books: 1) Y et K, essai sur la peinture au risque de la lettre. (Paris, Méridiens Klincksieck, 1989). 2) L'index montré du doigt. Huit plus un essais sur la surprise en peinture. (Paris, Co-edition Institut d'Esthétique de la Sorbonne et Editions de L'Harmattan, 2000).
