Elles sont peintes à même le sol dans cette cave où la lumière est absente. L’ensemble, lorsqu’il sera mis en scène, se présentera comme une chapelle. Chaque panneau devra prendre sa place dans un cycle décoratif à la manière des fresques de la Renaissance. Il y aura la naissance, l’enfance et la mort. Et aussi des épisodes qui pourraient s’appeler, par exemple, le mariage mystique, l’absence, la vocation, l’adoration... Au fond, une toile plus grande évoque le culte de ce saint qui n’existe pas. Les médaillons constituent les éléments d’une topographie imaginaire localisant ces inventions...” Bernard Notari ** “Ces petites sculptures anthropomorphes occupent l’espace réduit d’un “cabinet” rappelant les poncifs de l’age baroque. L’or, le corail, le calcaire s’opposent au matériau pauvre, rustique, mat du bois ou de la boîte qui constitue le fond du décor, à l’image de l’art, tendant à réduire l’univers à des formes admises ou dominées en transformant la matière naturelle et anarchique.” B.N.

When positioned, the completed work will resemble a chapel. Each panel will be placed in a decorative cycle reminiscent of the Renaissance fresco. Birth, youth, and death will be depicted here. Apparent also are themes such as the Mystical Marriage, Absence, Calling, Adoration... Forming the background is an even larger canvas representing the cult to this inexistent saint. The medallions evoke the elements of an imaginary topography defining these inventions..." Gold, coral, limestone contrast with the more modest, rustic and unpolished materials of the wood or box which form the background to the scene, in accordance with the intent of art, which tends to reduce the universe to shapes whether accepted or dominated by transforming the natural, anarchic base."
